Lava bead jewellery can be worn as simply jewellery or add a scent to make the best diffuser jewellery.
Simply add a few drops of lavender essential oil or a little of your favourite perfume for perfect little diffusers. You may want to do a patch test if the lava bead is going to be in contact with your skin. If you have Berry Adventurous lava bead jewellery, I recommend placing your lava bead into the tin provided to avoid spilling any oil. (Berry Adventurous Lava bead jewellery is currently going through a redesign. This is due to some copycats and me wanting to keep my jewellery designs unique to me).
Once you've applied your lavender essential oil or perfume to your lava beads, you'll need to allow the lava bead some time to soak up all of the liquids, this will avoid the oil getting on your skin and causing any irritation.
Lava beads are porous, which means they soak up the liquids you add to them... then the vapours of that liquid are slowly released until it has all completely evaporated.
Some thinner lighter oils will evaporate very quickly, so you may want to load up your beads with more of those oils. Whereas, thick heavy oils will evaporate much more slower, allowing the aroma to last longer.
After using your lava beads as diffusers a few times, you may notice your beads looks clogged, dirty or stained. Or you may be ready to change the aroma that you have on your bead... Either way, it is time to clean your lava beads.
I use a gentle unscented soap, like baby shampoo, and give my beads a good scrub with a tooth brush. I have a tooth brush that is just for my jewellery!
Once you've given your beads a really good scrub, rince off any excess soap and gentle dab your beads dry. I like to allow my beads to dry fully overnight before I add any new oils.
If your beads look dry or grey after cleaning, you can re-hydrate your beads by massaging a drop or two of coconut oil to your beads. I use fractionated coconut oil as it is unscented and does not go rancid, so won't effect the oils you choose to diffuse in your lava beads.
Enjoy your lava beads :)
